Using the Student Learning Centre

As a student you will automatically be enrolled in the SLC, and your ID badge acts as your library card. You can access the library catalogue via Moodle, and search for resources by subject, author or title. You can also manage your own reader account, allowing you to check your loans, reserve or renew items. You will need to enter your ID number and a PIN, which is the first 4 digits of your date of birth. For example if your birthday is the second of May, then your PIN would be 0205.

Borrowing Details

Students may borrow up to 6 items at any one time.

Items are issued for one or three weeks.

You may renew three week loan items twice and one week loan items once, via Moodle and at the library counter, providing no reservation has been placed for that item.

Fines are incurred for late return of items, currently 5p per day for normal loans (3 weeks), 10p per day for one week loan items.

Staff

Members of staff may join by filling in a membership form at the SLC counter. You may borrow up to 12 items at any one time. Renewals are the same as for the students.

IMPORTANT

Please do not allow anyone else to borrow items on your Learner ID card, as you are responsible for all items borrowed or lost and any fines incurred.
